Religion
This week we talked about being thankful and sharing kindness with our families and friends. We also learned about the Ten Commandments and God's law of love. We had lots of great ideas about how we can follow God's rules every day! We also read about the Good Samaritan and discussed how we can be Good Samaritans every day! We attended Mass on Tuesday morning. Father Paul talked to us about our saints and our saint's houses. After Mass, we toured the new Reconciliation Room and discussed our first reconciliation and what it will be like. We are practicing the Act of Contrition to prepare for this special day! Please continue to say this prayer at home each day to memorize it.
We are completing another chapter on addition with 2-digit numbers with and without regrouping (or carrying). We will continue to practice this and introduce estimating and rounding. Thanks for practicing those math facts! They keep us moving forward with more challenging math!
Reading, Writing, Spelling, and Phonics
We reading and learning about different land habitats for animals including woodland forests, rainforests, deserts, and the arctic. |
We discussed Veterans Day and the sacrifices that men and women have made to protect our country and our freedoms. We also learned about cause and effect, identified different landmarks, and practiced reading a landmark map.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Thank you for your responses regarding our parent-teacher conferences on November 20th. I am trying to accommodate everyone's requests and coordinate times with other teachers for families with siblings in other classes. I am sending a letter home with a scheduled appointment time. If anyone has a conflict or if I missed a sibling, please let me know. I can schedule additional dates and times. Thanks for all your support!
Christmas - Franklin Community Center
We have been invited to participate in a program to donate items for local families through the Franklin Community Center. Please consider donating an item that your child might like. All gifts should be new and unwrapped please. Ideas include toys, clothing, toiletries, books, crafts, pajamas, etc. for a second grade child (boy or girl). The choice is yours! If you can, please consider donating something that your child might like. Gifts will be collected on Dec.10th and can be sent to school any time before this date. Thanks!
