As a former atheist
(MY STORY)
, I can now agree with the Bible that Jesus is the only way to heaven:Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to
the Father except through me.'
John 14:6 He changed my life and showed me that putting Him first is the only thing worth
living for.
Growing up I felt like there was something missing from my life that
drugs & booze couldn't fill; I was insecure and unstable-it felt
like my life was on a downward spiral. This, and worrying about an
uncertain future, made me so depressed that I seriously thought about
killing myself. I found what was missing in my life-that was a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; He was there to take my hand and pull me out of the downward spin-He
wants to do the same for u (just ASK HIM)!!
Here's what I found out:
- God loves us and wants to know us. The
Bible
sez this in John 3:16.
- The
problem and the reason that we aren't all experiencing God's love is
because we are born with a sinful nature and are led by those sinful
inclinations (thoughts and/or actions). That means that NOBODY is born
perfect because we ALL have bad thoughts. The Bible
sez this in Romans 3:23. Unfortunately, the result of sin for us is
death-forever separated from God in a place called Hell. This is also
in the Bible
in Roman 6:23.
- The good news is that God took care of our
futile situation by sending His Son Jesus to die on a cross as our
substitute so that we wouldn't have to die spiritually. God did this
outta love. That's what the Bible
sez in Romans 5:8.
The following pictures show how Jesus bridged the gap between us and God:
- Knowing about all this isn't enough. The Bible sez in
John 1:12
and in
Revelation 3:20
that we must receive Jesus into our heart to know and experience God's love. It also sez in the
Bible
Ephesians 2:8-9 that this is done by faith.
- A
way of expressing that faith to God is thru prayer, which is just
talkin' to God with your heart. Here is a suggested prayer:
"Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.
I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank
you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of
the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person you want me to be."
Does this prayer express the desire of your heart?
If it does, pray this prayer right now, and Christ will come into your life, as He promised.
Now you are a NEW CREATION IN CHRIST!! Welcome to the family of God brother/sister!!
WHAT ABOUT NOW?
Now I KNOW without a doubt that I'm headed for heaven because of Jesus (See 1 John 5:11-13)
This has given me stability in a world that's fallin apart and
constantly changin; He COMPLETELY filled the emptiness in my life-I no
longer even think about killing myself. I may not know the future, but
I do know Who controls the future.
