Cherokee turned out to be over sixteen hands!

This is Cherokee.  He was adopted about 5 years ago from Hooves of Hope when he was 5 months old.  He is a native Canadian.  Cherokee arrived in the United States with pnemonia that took two waves of medication to cure.  As a colt he was very dependant and eager to be part of a family.  He became my pride and joy.  As he grew so did his curiosity.  When I cleaned the corrals he took off with rakes, knocked over the wheel barrel, and stole my cell phone right off my hip.  He was a character and it hasnt stopped.  I taught him to play fetch and a couple other games. We would jog down the streets together before he was big enough to ride.  We are to this day inseperable.  We moved to the high desert in 2005.  He took to the saddle like a duck to water.  He doesnt mind the bosal however he is still learning to 'not fight' it.  We will be roping cattle this year and hopefully we can earn lots of money, if not, at least we can have fun.  I know Hooves of Hope saved his life and Cherokee possitively changed mine.  =

My name is Rachelle. I met Lisa with Hooves of Hope literally by accident.  I saw an ad and went to look with no intention to adopt anything.  After talking with Lisa and realizing for the first time what it means to rescue a foal/horse and seeing her energy and passion, I decided I needed to help.  I had never worked with, little less owned a foal, but with Lisa's reassurance and guidance I adopted and worked with Cherokee, a 5 month old PMU paint colt.  (Our success story will be on the website).  Lisa was very willing to work with us in every aspect of the deal.  I have referred several people to her and her website to adopt the horses that need good homes.  I am in the process of adopting my second foal from her and her organization.  AND that should say it all.
