About Romance and Erotic Fiction Author Lisa Logan
I've
been writing fiction for a dozen years. It wasn't my intent to dive
in as a romance author. My muse picked the genre long before I caught
on...and what a wild ride I've taken ever since!
Rather than a lengthy narrative about the first time I sat at a typewriter, how about I share with you ...
Ten random and unrelated facts in no particular order:
1. I have seven children. No, my real last name is not Von Trapp, though my husband is dark and handsome and some of the family does sing.
2. I grew up in a show business family. Actors, singers, dancers, makeup artists...yep. Me? Not so much. A few extras gigs, production assistant on a Battlestar Galactica pitch trailer. I also did competition-level costuming, which is how I met my actor/costumer/prop maker husband.
3. I'm a vegetarian. Nope, not vegan. Lacto-ovo. Partly because of health reasons, partly because of #4.
4. I'm a tree hugging environmentalist. I embrace "green" fiction writing where possible, use CFL bulbs, water plants with gray water when possible, and am determined to work my way into sustainable living despite the limitations of a tiny rental apartment.
5. I've worked in a hospital for close to two decades, and I believe in ghosts. Yes, these two random facts ARE actually related, though I've had encounters outside this setting as well.
6. I was a figure skater. Froze my tush off in the rink every day prepping for the competition circuit. Coach had high hopes, but I was crushed when he returned to his native Australia. In a fit of pre-teen melodramatic insanity I quit, feeling noone could take his place. My grateful parents were spared a large fortune. Darn expensive sport!
7. I'm not just a fiction writer; I edit, too. I acquire manuscripts as the Senior Acquisitions Editor for Eternal Press, a job I absolutely adore.
8. I'm an avid "unschooling" homeschooler. We've found the magic of unschooling, or rather, spontaneous, opportunity-and-child-lead education. The world is our classroom, and we never stop learning. What a delight!
9. I'm a big proponent of Feng Shui. If you've seen my blog this isn't a big secret. I actually credit Feng Shui techniques for my first fiction sale. (YESS, Muse. Of COURSE you get most of the credit.)
10. I'm a major movie nerd. We have over 600 DVD's in our collection. Everything from sci-fi to fantasy, horror to action/adventure...and of course, romance! Not big on TV, except maybe the Planet Green channel.
