EXCERPT FROM TWELVE STEPS TO MURDER:

Never trust an alcoholic.

This is a lesson I learned ass-backward in life. Not as an innocent bystander, nor even a long-suffering friend or relative--though I've certainly had reserved seating for both. No, this truth was driven deep into my soul with all the finesse of the jackhammers consistently turning the I-10 freeway I frequent to an unmanageable dust pile of rubble.

You see, I'm the alcoholic.

Twelve Steps to Murder Q&A

Q. How did you come up with the idea for this mystery?

A. Believe it or not, the title came to me first...when I was out for a walk years ago. The idea that a killer could lurk anonymously in meetings for alcoholics--or that someone attending such meetings could think so--followed.

Q. Are twelve step meetings really dangerous?

A. The plot of Twelve Steps to Murder is pure fiction, not based on any actual events. When researching the book, however, I did run across scattered reports of crime linked to such meetings. Certainly, this is no reason for people in need of a support group to shy away, as addiction disorders such as discussed in the book poses a much greater risk. But I absolutey, positively believe folks should exercise the same common sense and caution around a twelve step gathering they would use in any situation where they are essentially among strangers.

Q. Will we see wannabe sleuth Cassie--and the dashing detective, Drew Drake--in any future mysteries?

A. Hmm...you never know! Right now, I'm taking their story One Day At A Time. :)

Q. Did you do any personal research into rehabs and meetings for this book?

A.
Yes, I did...but not for this book.
