Twists on old favorites that are red hot, sweet, and scary...and not necessarily in that order. Not your grandmother's fairy tales!

SINDARELLA by Lisa Logan is the lead story in this multi-author anthology. Sinda Ella has a bone to pick with the folks who screwed up her story with silly glass slippers and sweet fairy godmothers--and she might just use her fangs to do it. Oh, she's not bad, really. After all, when your stepsisters are witches and the only way out of their latest scheme involves a bloodthirsty vampire wizard, one tends to get a bit...testy.

THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT, Lisa Logan's award-winning time travel fantasy, comes back through time for a new appearance in this anthology as well.

EXCERPT FROM SINDARELLA:

"No, you simpleton," Allura's graveled tone belied the smooth sensuality of her name through the partially open door to the bath. "The red candles. And a pinch of ginger root, not frog wart. Unless you want to make the Prince retch at the sight of me."

I paused outside, listening. What new magic was brewing?

"Of course." Melisande's tone was even. "After all, the spell is to stop him from what he'd normally do."

"Close those pretty lips, sister, lest I find use for them in my next silencing spell."

"But why you? I want to be his true love!"

The brew's purpose became clear. And vile.

EXCERPT FROM THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT:

Ted arrived home as the modest December sun dipped low in the sky. He'd have to take the car back in order to reach the cemetery in time. Considering the need for swiftness, he was surprised to find his arms scooping the globe out of its box and setting it on the mantle.

Jostling the orb had sent plumes of glittery "snow" swirling through its interior. He watched, entranced. The globe truly was a wonder.

Sindarella/Christmas Present Q&A

Q. How did you come up with the idea for Sindarella?

A. I saw the call for submissions of "twisted" fairy tales and an idea popped into my head...what if the tale of Cinderella had been passed down wrong, because the truth was too darkly magic and frightening? What if her "fairy godmother" was less than on the level? OOH, and what if...well, I'll let you read to find out the rest.

Q. What about THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT? Where did you get the idea for it?

A. When I heard about a holiday themed writing contest, memories of childhood and a special snowglobe that my mother had came to mind. The ball was a nativity scene and quite different than the special globe in this story, but it did have a crystalline star suspended from the top that I thought was magical. I still love snowglobes.

Q. These stories are vastly different in tone, yes?

A. True. SINDARELLA is more overtly dark and of much higher sensual content; PRESENT is more psychological drama with sweet romance. That's the beauty of an antho; so many great stories in one book.

Q. What other "twists" on classic tales can I find in TWISTED FAYRIE TALES?

A. Tales of Snow White, Rapunzel, and much more! See the official TWISTED FAYRIE TALES page on Eternal Press for notes on the entire anthology. Fictionwise features a different, extended excerpt from THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT, too.

Q. Do you have any short stories that aren't part of a mixed-author anthology?

A.
Yes I do...check out THE GREAT WHITE SKY TREE for another tale involving the afterlife.
