Class 3
...Okay!
In Class 2 we started our trailer off with images. Now let's add
some supporting text.
Add Text Captions
The key word here is CAPTIONS. Keep
your text brief. Click on Edit Movie/Make Titles or Captions. Think
I'll do an opening title caption, so I click "Add title at
the beginning of the movie." I'll use the hook from my original
manuscript query. Hey, it sold the manuscript, so it must be grabby
enough for a trailer, right?
As you type your caption into the
window you'll notice that a preview appears on the right. Cool!
Hmmm, I'm not wild about the blue
background, though. Under the text window I click "change text
font and color," then on "color." (By the way, this
is also where you select font style and size. Choose one that's
easy to read!) You'll also see an option under the text window to
do transitions. Leave that alone for now...we'll get to the fancy
stuff later.
Once finished...
The screen will look like this:
My captions now appear
as the start of the movie. For drama and easier reading I split
my sentence into two frames. Add
your remaining text by clicking on images in the storyboard, then
choosing title options "before," "on," or "after"
the selected clip. Let's talk about that "on" option next...but
first, SAVE YOUR WORK!
