Class 4
Okay! Time to get our groove on
with some audio layering.
Do I really need sound?
Not at all. In fact, a well done
silent trailer can be very effective. (Besides, some people surf
the web with their speakers off, anyway.) So if you're having difficulty
finding "just the right" music (or royalty free work),
you needn't worry.
Still, the right sound and/or voiceover
can add mood and punch to your presentation. Note I say the "right"
sound or voiceover. Don't add music just to have it; it should flow
well to echo and enhance the message you want to convey. Sound should
not clash with the imagery; it should complement it.
So in the end, even if you DO have
a great scripted voiceover or a piece of music you love, don't hesitate
to be as brutal about cutting it as you are about editing a piece
of your writing that just doesn't FIT.
Can I change my mind later?
Sure! Even if you complete your trailer, you can always go back
later and add a soundtrack or voiceover--or change/delete what you've
got. You'll have to reupload your new and improved piece to the
Net, but who cares? So feel free to experiment.
Okay, enough preliminaries.
Let's get to it!
