I “make it real” for students when I share how I made the choice to turn my personal tragedy into triumph by writing Quotes for Kids. Students relate the timeless wisdom of quotations to their own lives, which then points them in the direction to make the right choices…unraveling on of life's mysteries - it's all about choices!

• I speak to students in upper elementary through college settings (includes adults, educators, and at-risk students)

• Book buying is easy because I bring autographed books the day of the visit
• Books are specially priced and the proceeds help to keep the author visit fee affordable
• Scheduling dilemmas disappear when we make it an annual event! The visit can be a special farewell for your students entering middle school.

Fees: A half-day session is $250.00 and a full day is $500.00 (plus mileage). Call me toll free at 1.888.707.3224 for other fee options. Piggy-Back Events with neighboring schools save time and money for all! Note: I handle all of my own travel arrangements.

Author Visits That Seem Effortless!

The best author visits happen when students are prepared ahead of time. As part of the packet, I donate a copy of my book to the school library (see list below). Teachers can read Quotes for Kids in class or on the morning announcements. The sample pages provided of the Reproducible Activity Unit is another way to get students excited about the visit.

• Every successful author visit begins with someone to help spread the word about the visit, coordinate the schedule and promote book sales. Remember the proceeds from the book sales keep the author visit fees affordable. I personalize and autograph each book ahead of time for easy distribution the day of the visit.
• Many schools have inspiring quotes throughout the building. Ask students to share their favorite quotation. What does it mean to them? Why do they like it? Who is the author? Do some research, what may have been going on in his or life at that time? Students especially enjoy it when teachers discuss their favorite quotations!

Packet contains:

• Autographed Copy of Quotes for Kids donated to school library
• Sample pages from my of Quotes for Kids Reproducible Activity Unit
• Master take -home flyer author visit announcement and order form, fill in the blanks, make copies, cut in half, and distribute to students. Use it again a day or two before the visit as a reminder.
• Jacket covers and black and white 5x7 photo of the author to make a display to help students to identify the book and the author
• Brochures and bookmarks
• Letters of recommendation (see testimonials)

For the presentation I request: (except with small groups)

• Lapel Microphone (wireless hands free) I do bring my own as backup
• Quality audio for CD playing I do bring my own as backup
• PowerPoint Presentation equipment including computer, projector and screen

FYI:

• I like to arrive one hour early to set up the room for the presentation.
• When possible, I prefer sessions close together rather than spread apart.
• I always enjoy having lunch with students. I do try to eat healthfully, and water is my favorite drink.
