"Instrument narrating that John Logane of Garthconall straitly obligated himself, his heirs, executors and assignees to relieve and keep scathless (John) Hamilton of Bardowy concerning the heads in a certain contract betreen the said John Logane, on one part, and Mariota Blacader and David Forsytht, her (spouse?), on the other part, by virtue of which contract John Logane is straitly obligated to infeft Walter Logan, his son and heir apparent, whom failing, Robert Logan, whom failing, John Logan, anf Elizabeth Forsytht, spouse of the said Walter, or of Robert or of John, and failing the said Elizabeth by decease, Alenos (Alison?) Blacader, or failing her, Elene Blacader, daughter of Adam, conjunctly, in conjunct in feftment as the manner is, in the ?? merk 6s. 8d. lands of Canfell, and the 50s. lands of Balquhynnyn: for which infefment John Hamiltone became cautioner and surety, as narrated in the contract.  Done in the chamber of Mr. Robert Hamilton, rector of Covington....August 1515.  Witnesses: Mr Robert Hamilton, rector of Covington, Mr. John Reid, vicar of Campsie, Walter Calbreth and ..... "Instrument narrating that John Leth, possesor of an 8s. 4 1/2d. land of Logan, commonly called the Treis, duly warned, compeared in the parish church of Cumnock, and there received from Alexander Logane, proprietor of the lands, 40 pounds, of which sum he holds himself entirely satisfied, and discharges the said Alexander, his heirs, &c.  After the delivery and receipt of the money, John Leth resigned all right or claim he had in the lands in the hands of George Craufurd of Lafinoris as in the hands of his immediate superior of the lands.  After which George C. resigned the said lands of Treis into the hands of the said Alexander Logan as in the hands of ..... principal and proprietor of the lands.  Dated 9 nov 1515."

"Instrument narrating the Alexander (Logan of) Flat required Nicholas Logane of (Auch)ingibbert to pay him the sum of 10 pounds promised to Alexander by Nicholas to release the merkland of Treis, but Nicholas refused to pay said sum, asserting that he did not owe it.  Done in the hall of Cumnok....December 1515.  Witnesses: Mr. Thomas Campbell, rector of Cumnok, Allan Cathcart of Waterhead, .....
