My journey to becoming a doula began in 1998, when I had the opportunity to assist at a friend's birth. My interest grew
after the unassisted homebirth of my third daughter in 2001. I recognized that there was a need for birthing
mothers to receive support and encouragement before and during birth. It is my belief that every expectant mother
should have the opportunity be in a relaxed environment where she can feel secure, cared for, and given confidence
in her ability to have an empowering and safe birth. Since receiving my Certification as a Labor Doula in February
of 2003, I have attended births at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Franklin
Memorial Hospital in Farmington, and a homebirth. My goal is to provide tools and resources, and to ensure
your desires for your baby's birth are met whenever possible.
