Dragonflyc.
My dragonflies have an interpretive body made of a medley of watery blues, greens and
teal glass nuggets that I wrap in wire. Their wings are metal fillagree that I antique with a patina and brush on a bit of
gold paint to catch the light. Red marbles or terra cotta cats-eye nuggets are
the prominent features. Wing span is approximately 10" wide and body length is 5 to 6". It hangs from a waxed
linen line accented with glass beads.
A note on structure. I fill in around the wire wrapped body with solder.
The wire is then hidden but structurally holds the dragonfly in good form. I hang the dragonflies either flying
downwards or upwards. The dragonfly shown above is upwards and not yet filled in with solder along the body.
Below is a finished example.
