Two topics are planned for essays in 2008, the first being the fascination with anomalous experiences verses the stigma attached to them by “proper society”. The value of inspiration gained by experiencing something one interprets as unusual regardless of the objective cause of the experience will be discussed.
The second topic concerns what the term “supernatural” means in the twenty first century, when supposed super-normal phenomena are being investigated with high-tech equipment. The essay will also take a look at the recent rise of belief in “paranormal” topics, and the decline of interest in science in American society, wondering whether the claims of a correlation between the two are accurate and if so, an inevitable social dynamic.
