The MacKenzie Center was constructed in 1953 to serve the Sacred Heart Parish and the Newton community.

A complete renovation and refurbishment was completed in 1998. With the addition of air conditioning, a large commercial kitchen and a new sheltered portico entrance the center is now a premier year round multipurpose facility. The center is foremost a center for parish related activities but because of the wealth of capabilities and its operational flexibility, it has the capacity to offer to those outside the parish the opportunity to use the facility on a rental basis. The center can readily accommodate sports, social functions, business meetings, and other group activities. Configured as a banquet facility it can comfortably seat and serve full meals to 300. In addition, the building houses office and meeting rooms of various sizes as well as a full size theater stage (which also seconds as an ample seating area for sports events). In addition to the commercial kitchen the center also has an auxiliary kitchen facility to serve the needs of those meeting in the conference and meeting rooms. Reservations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Demand for the center is growing rapidly. We encourage you to plan ahead and make reservations well in advance of the anticipated date. Parish sponsored activities do take priority over outside user. However, once contracted the center will honor the rights of outside users and the times they have scheduled.

As in so many aspects of community life, we encourage co-operation and communication as the keys to a successful and harmonious use of this outstanding facility.
