Artist Profile

Mary Anne Durnin is a watercolorist who has long held a special interest in art, beginning with her childhood coloring books. She loves the spontaneity and challenge of watercolors. Her love of color is evident in her paintings and the jewelry she designs. Diverse subject matter and varied style are typical of her artwork. Her choice of subject matter reflects her extensive travel to gather material and inspiration.

Mary Anne is a member of the Gallery VIII on-line gallery. She is a signature member of the Southwestern Watercolor Society and the Texas Watercolor Society. In addition, she is an active member of the Richardson Civic Art Society. She has been an award winner in regional and area exhibits and has won acceptance into numerous juried exhibitions.

Mary Anne holds degrees in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology and Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas. While working as a software engineer for 12 years, she designed and developed 3D graphic simulation software, user interfaces, and graphic art for Internet web sites. She has been painting full time since 1998 and designing jewelry since 2002.

She has studied watercolors with nationally and internationally known artists, i.e. Dan Burt, Rob Erdle, Frank Francese, Jane E. Jones, Pat Kochan, Leo Smith; and continues her art education through private study, and workshops here and abroad. Her art and computer skills have enhanced each other in all aspects of her creative life.

Mary Anne's artwork can be found in various exhibits and numerous private collections.
