Zeus Fixie

Well, I finally finished her up. She's a beauty little doll...She is my 70s Zeus, my spanish beauty...the second to grace my home in fact...right alongside my Razesa. The Zeus is quite different. In an effort to savor the classic quality, rather than hot rod it up completetly as I first did with the Razesa...I kept classic ideas on this steed.

The set up: Zeus frameset...dating to the 70s. I acquired this from my friend Amir Avitzur from Israel...he won the frameset on ebay and chose to have the parts shipped off to him and sell the frameset. the price...for me it was a steal...or should I say steel!

The condition: Rough. The paint was near gone everywhere...barely any recognizable decals left at all. Down to the bare metal and rusted heavily around the seat cluster. Looked like someone sat it under a rain spout in that area for several years...never fear. just get to work and get it looking pretty!

So I set about to sanding and sanding and sanding some more....prime and sand...prime and sand...repeat process. Splat on some paint and a few more coats, decals as well...then clear over it a few times...and I am done. A great deal easier to type up than to have the patience to process all those tasks. But it is done.

Pics are viewed here on the Fixed Gear Gallery site... Zeus Fixie

Components:

stem: funky aero shaped ITM...I like it. Hot looking...like a good looking gal in a pair of boots with long legs...ok, maybe not quite but it looks good to me.

Headset: Zeus NOS Cosmos headset...sweet.

Handlebars: black Modolo somethings...lying around in the basement. Nice though!

wheelset: very nicely laced tubulars using Zeus New Racer hubs that were New old Stock from probably the 80s. zeus skewers that were NOS, and some nice Fiamme tubular rims that are near spotless.

rear cog: Surly 18t held on with a lockring...standard.

Front crankset: Zeus crankset in 175mm. They were NOS when I first got them. Nicely fluted sides.

Front chainring (chainwheel): Zeus 44t. Zeus 2000 model to be exact....holey drilled out and sweet! Held on with Zeus chainring bolts and my funky star spacers for character.

pedals: my preferred Time Midi pedals.

Brass Universal Bell mounted soundly to the downtube shifter boss.

pump: NOS Zeus pump painted in some stripes to match the Zeus paint. Held in place using Zeus chrome NOS umbrella clips for some originality touch of class.

Seatpost: Still...another new old stock Zeus Cosmos seatpost. nicely fluted.

Seat: anything lying around...

So the Zeus becomes a mixture of old and new...thanks for looking. Be sure to check it out on Fixedgeargallery.com website.
