In Celebration of Pets

There are very few people that I know that do not have or want a pet. Unconditional love for you, no matter what happens. You are the center of their world and they adore you. How often do we get that kind of devotion from our other relationships? I have seen numbers of pets look to their owners, recognise them, love them. Be it a hamster, fish, frog, dog, cat, rabbit, or something more exotic, they all respond to love and care.

We currently have a hamster named Junior. Hamsters are really more intelligent than people give them credit for. They recognise voices, their own name, particular objects (such as Dave's boots), adjust their schedule to your's,and they will even learn tricks. It just takes patience and love to get the most out of your rodent.

I couldn't do a pets page without mentioning the (to me) most beautiful breed of dog, tri-colored collies. My mom had two purebreds, Sadie and Lacey. Lacey achieved the title of "Oldest Tri-Collie in the World" being just a tad shy of fourteen when she died. Sadie missed Lacey for a while but now she is enjoying being "Only Dog". Although, she does has seperation anxiety now and tips over her food and water dishes.

Along with the collies and the hamster, my extended primary family has a number of other pets. Wicket the rabbit, Blanket the African water frog, Cindy the cat, and the deceased Zak the Jackson's chameleon. Cindy the cat is now about twenty years old and the frog is at least eighteen.
