Things I'll Never Ask

I'll never ask why
the unicorns died
and why the dragons
flew away.
I'll never know why
the pegasi left
or where Atlantis sunk.
I shall never wonder aloud
where the magic went
or where the sea monsters are.
I'll never ask
for fear of labels
like fool, daydreamer, mad.
But questions remain
so long as I never ask.

Flight

Release me from this chair
that keeps my bound to earth
inhibiting my flights of fancy.
Open the door, these bars
that cage my emotions
darkening my days.
Let me go and fly
to new heights on eager wings
bright and free.

Blackness grabs me,
my lover, my fear.
Claims my vision
my thoughts, and my body.
Bringing me low.
Heart racing.
Light headed.
Light.
My lover.
Fear.

Orange
Thirsty,
for drink,
wandering about the desert.
Crazy,
going wild
in the fall leaves.
Bold,
wanting to be noticed
by others.

Loneliness

Loneliness is
a single flower
in a large field.
a solitary pine
in a forest of oak,
black
on a plane of white.
Loneliness is
a tiny cottage
in a huge forest,
being different
in a mass of same.

Music
heard in my mind
knows no outlet, no flight
from the cage of ignorance that
binds it.
