I remember first seeing this book at the little Dover, NJ Bookstore (or whatever it was called).  I pestered my dad several times
for him to buy me the book, and he finally relented.  This was the first book that I owned that contained illustrations by Charles
R . Knight.

This book considers both invertebrate and vertebrate fossils.




This book contains many illustrations by several artists including Knight (many of his Chicago Field Museum of Natural History
pieces), Burian, and others.  The author also includes several of his own pen and ink stippled illustrations.
