When the World was Young, 1941
By Martha McBride Morrel
This book provides an overview of the history of life on earth.
Dinosaurs are given their due, but only
a few genera are profiled, including Tyrannosaurus, "Trachodon,"
Diplodocus, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops,
and each of these genera are given their own chapter. No mention
is made of other commonly known (circa
early 1940's) dinosaurs such as ankylosaurs, Apatosaurus
(Brontosaurus), Allosaurus, etc. In addition, while
plesiosaurs are discussed, no mention is made of ichthyosaurs or
mosasaurs.

In general, only the profiled dinosaurs are provided an illustration
(by R. E. Falconer), and many of these, such as the
Stegosaurus and Tyrannosaurus above, are based on the James Allen's
pieces that he did for the Sinclair Dinosaur
Book.
If you collect old dinosaur books for their illustrations, definitely
skip this one.
