Ages Ago, 1896
By Edith Carrington
This book is one of a series titled "Animal Life Readers."
Unfortunately, the book contains no illustrations
of dinosaurs. Indeed, dinosaurs are barely mentioned at
all. The book only contains two restorations of prehistoric
reptiles; the frontispiece, below, and a second illustration showing
both an ichthyosaur (sans dorsal fin) and a
plesiosaur. The book also includes several illustrations of
extant and extinct mammals (both skeletal and living
restorations), as well as several illustrations of other fossil
vertebrates and invertebrates.

The title page notes that the book is illustrated by Harrison Weir and
others. It is not clear, however, if Weir did the
above (frontispiece) illustration.
