A Child's Book of Prehistoric
Animals, 1956
By Bruno Frost
I remember borrowing this book from the Birchwood School (Rockaway
Township, NJ) library.
Although the
book's cover says that it is by Bruno Frost, he is
actually the illustrator. The book's title page states that the
text is
by none other than John H. Ostrom, and that the book has been
reviewed by Edwin H. Colbert for technical
accuracy! The artwork
in this book is obviously based on the American Museum of Natural
History's collection
of illustrations and artwork.

Take a look at the misshapen head of the Tyrannosaurus with the eyes
located too close the snout. It is
obviously based on the American Museum of Natural History Knight
painting of the showdown between
T. Rex and
Triceratops. Does the Paleoscincus look familiar?
Check out the entry for Colbert's
"Dinosaurs:
their Discovery and their
World."
