November 22, 2003 (W3-1)
This match was played on a new style artificial turf. We were short
so we picked up a couple of local bystanders. Izzy made a great move inside
the box to draw the defender to him and found a guest player alone on
the far post who put the ball in the net to give us the early 1-0 lead.
A few minutes later two guest players teamed up for a goal and we took
the 2-0 lead into half time. The opponent scored early in the second half
on a nice shot that rebounded off the far corner of the goal and into
the net to make it 2-1. Buzz made some key one-on-one saves and Phil made
a nice clear to maintain the lead. Totan came up from the sweeper position
and took a feed from Mike F. and first timed a well placed shot
into the upper right corner of the net to finish off the opponent.
November 15, 2003 (L3-1)
We were down 1-0 at half time. The opponent took a
2-0 lead early in the second half. We started putting pressure on the
opponent. Dean flicked a nice ball to Totan as the opposing keeper came
out and Totan put it away to make it 2-1. Ice had a nice shot that looked
like he had tied the match but the ref ruled it went under the side of the
net. We kept fighting to tie the match but came up short and the opponent
scored a late goal.
November 8, 2003 (W3-2)
It was a hard fought match. Ice broke the ice
early in the first half when Rick sent a ball back to him and he first
timed it with the outside of his right foot from about 30 yards
out. The ball was spinning wickedly as it curved its way into the upper
right corner of the net. In fact, the ball was spinning so fast, some
say it burned a hole in the net. Buzz was streched out on the ground but
was able to make the kick save off the line on a point blank shot by the
opponent. We held the lead 1-0 at half time. The wind picked up in
the second half as we struggled to keep the opponent out of our half
with the strong wind in our face. The opponent was able to score two second
half goals and had the lead 2-1 until we mounted our comeback. Dave ricocheted
a header off the keeper on an excellent corner kick from Frank to tie the
match 2-2. Totan scored the game winner late in the match on a nifty move
to beat the defender and put the ball passed the outstretched arms of the
opposing keeper.
November 1, 2003 (L5-4)
Did not have a ref. It got a little ugly. If we
had a ref we would have beaten them. Two of their goals were shady,
one an offside and one a free kick which they should not have gotten.
We should have gotten a PK late but the opponent complained strongly about
it. The opponent had two very skilled players up front who scored all the
goals for them. Izzy had two goals. Mike J. and Dave each had one goal.
Pete, Totan, Frank, and Larry, each had one assist.
October 25, 2003 (T2-2)
Rob scored on a corner kick in the first half to
tie the match as his in-swinger deflected off the opposing keeper's
hand and into the near corner of the net. Ice had a nice shot from about
35 yards in the first half that almost knuckled in but the opposing keeper
just got a finger on it to tip it over the bar. Dave made a nice run down
the left side in the second half and sent a low through ball to Totan
who put it away to give us a 2-1 lead. The opponent tied the game a few
minutes later as the opponent's forward beat Buzz on a one-on-one.
October 18, 2003 (W6-2)
Totan had a hat trick. Dave had one goal and
two assists. Pete and Frank had one goal each. Mike F. and Izzy had
one assist a piece. The opponent was short so we loaned them a couple
of players. We had a commanding 5-1 lead at half time. The second half
was quite a bit closer, but we managed to hang on. For the record,
it was determined that Pete's goal came off the first metatarsal on his
left foot.
October 11, 2003 (W1-0)
Buzz makes several one-on-one saves and records
his first shutout of the season. Pete was all over the field and
hustled back to help out the defense often. Pete scored the only goal
off his shin when the opposing keeper misplayed a cross near the goal
line early in the second half. Totan, Phil, and Ice played hard in the
back to preserve the win.. We started the match with nine players and
the opponent loaned us a couple of late arrivals.
October 4, 2003 (W1-0)
Rob scored the lone goal on an assist from
Izzy. The guest goal keeper records the shutout.
September 27, 2003 (W6-2)
Izzy had two goals, Mike J. had two goals, Chuck K.,
and Steven L.(both guest players) had one goal each. Rick had
two assists, Dean had one assist, and Steven L. had one assist.

September 6, 2003 (W8-1)
Mike J. had three goals, Ice had two goals
and two assists, Pete had one goal and one assist, Gary had one goal, Totan
had one goal, Mike F. had two assists, and Frank had one assist. Rick, Rob,
and Pat played solid defense as we took a commanding lead 4-0 into the half.
As in the previous two matches, we came out in the second
half and worked on ball movement. We were up 7-0 midway through
the second half, when the opponent's speedy center forward broke
through the defense and scored on a one-on-one to avoid the shutout.
The forward broke through again near the end of the match,
but this time Buzz made the crowd gasp with a spectacular acrobatic
save.
August 23, 2003 (W8-1)
Izzy had three goals and one assist, Dean
had two goals, Mike J. had one goal and one assist, Mike F.
had one goal, Phil had one goal, Rick had three assists, and Gary
had one assist. We took a 5-0 lead into . half time In the second half,
we worked on ball control and keeping the ball moving around in
the back. A late goal by the opponent thwarted the shutout.
August 16, 2003 (W10-2)
Dave had four goals, Frank had one goal and
five assists, Totan had two goals, and Rob had one goal.
Our guests provided two goals and two assists. The other team
was short so we loaned them two players to make it 8-on-8. One
of the guest players we loaned the opponent scored their two goals.
We took advantage of space and had the lead 7-2 at .half time The
defense, lead by Gary, shutdown the opponent in the second half.
We even let the opponent take on late arrivals to give them the one
man advantage, 10-on-9, for the second half.
