  Game Summaries

August 9, 2003 (L3-2)

The opponent lead 2-0 at half time. Mike J. scored our first goal an assist from Frank. RJ assisted Korey on our second goal to tie the match 2-2. The opponent scored a disputed late goal on a header off a free kick in which many argued the opponent was in the offside position. We actually controlled most of the match, but missed by inches several chances to score.

August 2, 2003 (L5-3)

The opponent took a 3-0 into the half. We came out fighting in the second half. Izzy scored a hat trick and Mike J. had two assists. We were only down 3-2 at one point when the opponet took the lead 4-2. Still, we were able to come back and make it 4-3 but gave up a late goal.

July 26, 2003 (W5-2)

Dean scored first on a through ball from Izzy in the box to give us the early lead. The opponent took advantage of a couple of defensive miscues and scored two goals in short order to take the lead 2-1. With just a few minutes to go in the first half, Dave hammered a shot that hit the left post near the ground. The ball was never cleared and Diego was able to finesse the ball into the net with the back of his heal to tie the match 2-2. The second half was a different story. Pete and Dave lead an outstanding defensive effort that allowed no shots on goal the entire second half. Dean scored what proved to be the game winner early in the second half on another assist from Izzy. Izzy got a goal of his own to make it 4-2 after he was awarded the PK on a hard foul in the box. With the match out of reach and time running out Dave headed the final goal into the upper left corner of the net on a well placed corner  from Frank.

July 19, 2003 (W5-1)

The opponent scored first about midway through the first half to take a 1-0 lead. The defense, led by Gary and Dave, took it up a notch after that and shut the opponnent down. Ice tied the game late in the first half off a corner kick from Frank. Mike J. fed Izzy for an easy goal early in the second half to give us a 2-1 lead. We never looked back. Pete scored  an unassisted goal to make it 3-1. Mike J. assisted Frank for our fourth goal. Mike J. finally got a goal as he finished the scoring with an assist from Dean after dishing off two assists earlier in the match himself.

July 12, 2003 (W4-2)

Totan scored the first goal of the match and we led at half time 1-0. Ice found his range in the second half. He dribbled to the right sideline near midfield and with no one challenging him, turned and fired a shot that  drifted over the outstretched hands of the opposing keeper and into the net. Totan had an assist on Ice's second goal on a well placed corner kick that Ice headed in to give us a 2-0 lead. The defense played well for the most part. However, a defensive miscue left an opponent wide open on the far post for their first goal. Totan came back a few minutes later with a steal and a nice move passed the defender near the left sideline taking it all the way to the net for his second goal to make it 3-1. The opponent was awarded a PK near the end of the match which made the game appear closer than it was.

July 5, 2003 (4th Weekend)

June 28, 2003 (W4-0)

Mo and Buzz teamed up in goal for first shutout of the season. Rob scored the first goal early in the match on a close in shot off an assist from Izzy. Gary was solid at sweeper as he directed the defensive effort and often started the attack from the back. Mo saved a PK late in the first half to keep us in the lead after the ref made a questionable call in the box. Midfielders, Rick and Frank, took control in the second half and kept the ball in the opponents half most of the time. Rick assisted Rob on his second goal of the match a few minutes into the second half to give us a 2-0 lead. A little while later, Izzy snagged a poor clear by the opponent and dribbled in and scored, beating two defenders and leaving them sprawling on the turf. With about 10 minutes left in the match, Ice put the icing on the cake as he frosted a shot from about 35 yards out that seemed to have a mind of its own as it knuckled and curved into the back of the net.

June 21, 2003 (Canceled)

June 14, 2003 (W3-2)

Both teams were short today and we loaned the opponent a player to make it 8-on-8. We took a 1-0 lead when Kieth stole the ball from the defender and dribbled in to put it past the keeper. The opponent tied it up on a break-away a short time later. Unfortunately, the opponent took the lead 2-1 right before the first half whislte. Bryan scored on a an assist from Pete to tie the match at 2-2 early in the second half. About midway through the second half, Bryan's second goal gave us the lead 3-2 when he took a  throw-in from Rob, beat a defender, and sent his shot into the net after a deflection off another defender. We had many chances to put the opponent away but missed on several opportunities, including a missed PK. Ice had a low hard shot that looked headed for the back of the net if it were not for a great diving save by the opponent. Buzz preserved the victory with a last minute one-on-one save.

May 31, 2003 (W4-1)

The score was 3-1 at half, rain held off, first game in weeks. The first goal was scored when Ice played a ball 50 yards forward right to the feet of a streaking (clothed, just very fast) Totan who finished the play. Played a good game switching the ball often.  Rick did a good job of shutting down their top player. Pam provided support from the comfort of her new car drinking bud light. Dave did an excellent job sweeping. Ice had a rocket shot that was curving in the upper right corner that the goalie made an awesome save on just tipping it past the far post.

May 3, 2003 (T2-2)

Totan did a fine job at sweeper in the first half. Powell dribbled past several opponents about 10 minutes in the match to give us the early lead. Mo had a shutout going as we took a 1-0 lead into the half. Early in the second half  the opponent tied it up. We took the lead, 2-1, a few minutes later on a quick passes from Ice to Powell to Rob who finished off the play and put the ball into the back of the net. Unfortunately, the opponent tied the game a short while later. The match went back and forth the rest of the way, as each team had chances to score the winning goal, and ended in a 2-2 draw.

April 26, 2003 (W4-2)

The opponent was short so we loaned them a couple of our players. Totan stole the ball from the defender and fed Izzy who started the scoring midway through the first half. Mike J. used his blazing speed and scored on a breakaway up the middle a few minutes later to give us a 2-0 lead at the half. Izzy scored on a close in goal on an assist from Ice early in the second half. Ice made it 4-0 a little while later on a 40 yard chip shot after the opposing keeper made a bad throw from the top of the box. The opponent made a come back and scored two quick goals to make it 4-2, but the lead was too much to overcome as time ran out.

April 5, 2003 (W4-1)

The opponent was short so we loaned them a couple of our players. Dave opened the scoring about 15 minutes into the match with a hard left footed shot that curved into the right side of the net from about 25 yards out. A few minutes later, Izzy scored after the opponent failed to clear the ball and we took a 2-0 lead into the half. Early in the second half, Buzz led Mike J. as he made a nice run across the field down the left side, beat the defender and fed the the ball to Bryan in front of the goal who put the ball in the net. Later in the second half, Rob assisted Gary who placed a nice shot by the keeper to give us a 4-0 lead. Mike F., playing for the opponent, scored a late goal for them. Unfortunately it will not count as a GP goal.
