Mo scrores what turns out to be the game winner early in the match on a long shot that took a strange bounce the opposing keeper could only tip it into the net. We took a 1-0 lead into the half and built on it in the second half. Buzz earns second shutout of the season with great defensive support from Dave G., Rick, and Totan. The midfield, anchored by Frank and Mike J., was key in maintaining possesion most of the match. Meredith provided a boost with an assists in each half.

Buzz gets first shutout of the season. Pierce scrores the first goal on a direct kick that just cleared the wall and found the back of the net. Mike F. fed Pierce and we went up 2-0 at half time. We were able to hold on in the second half. Thanks to play by Rick at sweeper and defenders Mo and Phil. The key was maintaining posesseion about two thirds of the match.

Both teams were short and there was a field conflict. A pickup game was played on another field combining three teams into two.

We toook a 2-0 halftime lead and were able to hold off the opponent in the second half by utilizing our many subs. A luxury we had not had in many weeks.

The highlight of the match came on a goal kick when we were only up 2-1 and Mo had just left the match with an injured hamstring putting us one player down. Buzz usually takes his time to set up a goal kick but a change-up, orchestrated by Ice, caught the opponent off gaurd. Buzz tossed the ball to Steve, who placed the ball down for Ice who quickly sent a booming goal kick over the opponet's last defender and German ran onto it and put it away for a 3-1 lead. The defense played well and Phil, guarding the post on a corner kick, saved a goal off the line while the ball was bouncing around in the box.

There were eight Pretenders and the opponent loaned us a few so we could play 11 on 11. Each team was awarded and scored on a PK in the first half. We were up 4-1 at half-time with the help of the opponent players. The opponent made it 4-3 in the second half but we were able to score and finished 5-3.

We doubled our turn out with six Pretenders for this match. The opponent loaned us a few players but we still played short with nine most of the match. One of our guest players, Bob, scored our lone goal on a well placed corner kick early in the first half. The defense played well but the opponent scored late in the match to tie it 1-1.

We were short to start the match so the opponent loaned us a couple of players. We were awarded a PK early in the match that German put away that gave us a 1-0 lead. We dominated the first half. Mo stood tall in the wall, kept his eye on the ball and blocked a hard free kick with the same eye. We had a comfortable 2-0 lead at half time. Buzz led the team in a moment of silence to remember the VA Tech shooting victims and their families. We continued the domination in the second half as Mike J. put us up 3-0. The last fifteen minutes there seem to be a let down as the opponent scored three goals. The last two goals (one was a PK) were after we had a player ejected for a hard foul in the box. Fortunately, we were able to get a fourth goal and escape with a win.

We got of f to a 3-0 lead in the first half. Unfortunately, the opponent scored seconds before the first half whistle to make it 3-1. Frank, Mike J., and Rick were dominating in the midfield. Buzz scored an own goal after he misplayed a back pass. It looked like something out of the old Benny Hill Show, as he ran after it tyring to keep it out of the goal. With the score 3-2, the opponent got fire in their eyes. Buzz made up for the mistake later with some key saves. Totan saved one off the line as Buzz came out to stop a one-on-one. Overall, the defense played well.

Goals - Dave R. 2, German 2

04/07/2007 (W4-1) It was a record cold day for April and the start of the season. The wind was brutal and the wind chill was estimated to be in the teens. We were able to get a 2-0 lead at halftime. We were leading 3-0 when the opponent scrored their only goal of the match. We scored once more near the end of the match to make it 4-1. Steve, Phil, Gary, and Mo played strong defense. Frank, Rick, and Jamil kept the ball under control and on the ground in the midfield. Our short passing game was the key to the match as the wind played havoc with balls in the air. Frank's unassisted goal off his wind aided corner kick that found the far corner of the net was an example of  the mighty wind at work.
