The 913th Airlift Wing was closed illegally outside the BRAC process. Air Force officials actively worked against the members of the unit getting jobs, and what was best for their family. Basically, this unit was sent to Iraq multiple times, and then given a pink slip with the barest of benefits. Air Force officials lied to Congress about helping the unit's members. More care was given to where the desk chairs went, than the people who served our nation.

Air Force officially deactivates 913th at Willow Grove

WILLOW GROVE, Pa. (AP) — The Air Force Reserve has officially deactivated its tactical aircraft unit at Willow Grove Naval Air Station.

The 913th Airlift Wing was retired Sunday. The unit used C-130 Hercules cargo planes to deliver troops, equipment and supplies to battlefields around the world for nearly four decades.

The federal government's Base Realignment and Closure Commission voted in August 2005 to close the air station, which is about 15 miles north of Philadelphia. In January, officials said the 913th Airlift Wing would be deactivated this fall.
