BUSINESS WRITING |
| As a business writer, I've served universities, associations, and other nonprofit organizations--most with a medical, pharmaceutical or health focus. It’s challenging and fun to express the passion of these clients when promoting their programs and causes. |

Brochures and booklets are my favorite
type of business writing. I like identifying a client's key messages,
determining who the audience is, and figuring out the best way to reach them.
I've written many promotional and informational brochures for clients including
the University of Maryland, the National Museum of
Dentistry, the Montgomery County Commission for Women, and
others. |

In 2006, I compiled a history and profile of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to commemorate the agency’s 100-year anniversary. The book, Celebrating 100 Years of the Food and Drug Administration: A Special Centennial Edition, was published by Brooklands New Media, a British publisher that specializes in commemorative publications. |

I was the managing editor of several
alumni periodicals for the University of Maryland. These included magazines for
the Medical Alumni Association (The Bulletin), the Dental School
(The Forum), and the School of Law (JD). I wrote articles,
hired writers, worked with designers, illustrators and photographers, managed
the budget, and oversaw all production. Articles I've written for the
The Bulletin and
The Forum are available. The Forum won
a first-place award from the International College of
Dentists. |

At the University of Maryland at
Baltimore, I wrote and edited student recruitment
materials for all of the professional schools and many of their individual
graduate programs. This involved well-planned packages of materials with
consistent messages and themes throughout. |
