The College of New Jersey
Trenton, New Jersey
August 1990 - May 1994
B.A., English, conferred magna cum laude
I spent my college years on the lovely suburban campus of what was then known as Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) in Ewing Twp., N.J. Originally an English/secondary education major, I dropped out of education just before my student teaching was scheduled to begin, when I decided being in front of the classroom wasn't for me. I switched my major to English with a focus on professional writing, and also fulfilled the requirements for a sociology minor. By the time I earned my bachelor’s degree in 1994, I had completed the College Honors Program, made the Dean’s List six semesters out of eight, and attained a cumulative GPA of 3.75. While a student, I was the recipient of three merit-based scholarships—the Trenton State College Alumni Scholarship (four years); the Katherine G. Ryan Scholarship, Bucks County, Pa. (two years); and the Robert C. Byrd National Scholarship (one year).
