Tonight I actually got a few hours to work on the Tempest. I powder coated the hood latch and Oil filter housing. I took apart the fromt steering and re powder coated the pitman arm. The only component that is not new is the center link. I decided to pull it off tonight and replace it. I will look for a new one tomorrow. I put the new light springs on the hood hinges as well. The AGR ower steering pump was showing some signs of rust so I puloed it off, stripped it and painted it with cast blast. It looks great. I bought a fiberglass hood and Harwood Aero Scoop III last week and dropped it off at the bodyshop. I also bought a Billet Power Steering pump at Summit. I got half price on the clearance shelf. I am going to buy a March Serpentine conversion kit next which cost $650.00, Ouch!
Well, I just finished putting the engine back together two week. All I need are the solid motor mounts, carb, and headers. The engine put up some impressive numbers on Desk Top Dyno. I bought a pair of 71 HO superduty round port heads off of friend. He also threw in a high rise vintage Warrior intake. The intake has been port mached and machined. I cleaned up some of the machining marks and powder coated it. The intake is very tall plus there is a 2 inch spacer that sits on top as well. Ge
tting back to the engine, It is going to put out close to 600 HP and 550 pounds of torque. That is without the nitrous oxide. I will need to upgrade from a 10 bolt to a 12 bolt or Ford 9 inch with those kind of numbers.
As for the body, I wanted to finish the engine first. Now I need to finish stripping the body down to bare metal. The doors, fenders, trunk, and misc. other pieces are already at the body shop getting blocked and prepped for paint. We are going to install the engine after he gets the firewall done. I'm still not 100% sure on the color yet! I'm still shooting for the Father's Day Car show next summer to have it completed. We'll see!
