CHAPTER HISTORY
518-
The Hendrick Hudson Chapter, NSDAR, was organized December 26, 1895, at the home of Margaret Collier. The DAR Charter was applied for and received on May 1, 1896. A Chapter Building Fund was then started to provide a permanent home. When Mrs. Frances Chester White Hartley, Charter Member of NSDAR, learned of the project, she purchased the Robert Jenkins House and presented it to the chapter May 15, 1900. The house had been built in 1811 by Robert Jenkins, the son of one of the Proprietors of the City of Hudson, who served as the third and fifth Mayor of the City. Mrs. Hartley was a granddaughter of Robert Jenkins, and had been born in the house. Cont’d Page 2.
