Stanalene "Stannie" Skidmore Anderson was a reporter and editor on the Topeka Capital-Journal for 33 years.  An award-winning journalist, she was noted for her coverage of health and mental health news.  She pioneered in promoting adoption of hard-to-place children.  She survived breast cancer at 43 and raised two sons alone.  Mrs. Anderson died in January 2000 at age 73.
