Parente met Irish Consul General to the United States David Barry during his visit to the State House in Boston on June 28, 2006. The Consul General was the guest of State Representative Michael Rush of Boston, the House Historian. Mr. Barry spoke to the assembled members of the House before attending a reception in his honor. Parente (D-Milford) attended the 12th annual Crossroads Clubhouse St. Patrick's Day breakfast on March 19. All proceeds from the breakfast are used to fund special projects and activities for Crossroads’ members. Crossroads Clubhouse in Hopedale is a rehabilitative community offering adults with mental illness opportunities and support in employment, education and housing. It is a service of Riverside Community Care and is funded by the Department of Mental Health and the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission. It serves the communities of Bellingham, Blackstone, Douglas, Franklin, Grafton, Hopedale, Linwood, Manchaug, Medway, Mendon, Milford, Millbury, Northbridge, Sutton, Upton, Uxbridge, and Whitinsville.
