Texas STAR-BQ 2009
June 12 - 13, 2009
The 2009 Texas STAR-BQ was held at the YO Ranch Resort in
Kerrville. There was a Bike Show, Bike Games, Silent and Live Auctions, Scavenger/Trivia Ride, Fun Runs, a FTC Food Drop,
and a Dinner for all attendees.
A few of us rode to the STAR-BQ, where our Chapter donated $800.00
to FEED THE CHILDREN.
Valentine's Day Strawberries
Fundraiser For FTC
February 10 & 11, 2009
For Valentine's Day, we dipped chocolate covered strawberries at the Matlocks'
home. This was our first fundraiser for FEED THE CHILDREN. Since most of us had never "dipped" before, A friend of Wendy's
helped us get the necessary supplies and showed us how to actually make the chocolate covered strawberries. We owe a big "Thank
You" to Sandy for all that she did to help us out. Those that showed up for two nights that we planned had a great time messing
about in the Matlocks' kitchen. Another "Thank You" goes out to the Matlocks for allowing us to use their home for this event.
Thanks to all that showed up to "dip", and a huge Thanks to Wendy for all her hard work in coordinating everything to make
this happen. At the end of it all, we raised well over $500.00 for our FTC donation.
DFW Toys for Tots Motorcycle
Run
December
6, 2008
The 40 mile ride began and ended at the VFW Lonestar Post
in McKinney. The Post provided breakfast, then we rode through the scenic back roads of the Northeast Collin County
towns of McKinney, Melissa, Blue Ridge and Princeton, escorted by the local Police departments and Dallas STAR Chapter 172.
It was VERY cold on the drive to the Post, but it warmed up to be a good ride
Cycle World International
Motorcycle Show
November 14 - 16, 2008
The Cycle World International Motorcycle Show was held at the Dallas
Convention Center. Mike Wright (NE Texas State Director) asked for volunteers from the area to help man the STAR booth.
Cyntihia, Bill Sr., and Mark helped at the STAR booth, talking up the STAR organization, and doing a bit of recruiting.
There was TONS of chrome and leather and beautiful bikes on display.
RS#446 Holidaze Party
November 8, 2008 at Paul's place
Paul and Sonya provided the brisket, and others brought extras. The meal was
excellent, as were the desserts.
The "White Elephant" gift exchange was relatively docile until a fantastic STAR Leather
riding jacket was picked up by Jerry. Thats when the "stealing" started. Paul started it with the first steal, quickly followed
by Herb. Sonya ended up with it on the third and "freezing" steal.
We held our monthly meeting at this time, also. On the agenda was the yearly appointment
of officers.
