Ham Radio has been one of my best outlets for just hanging out with good friends without leaving the comforts of home. In
the Spring of 2003 I acquired a 6' high by 19" wide rack. It had been used by a silent key for his ham shack. I stripped
out all the old equipment and repainted the case a hunter green, same color as the heathkit SB-200 face plate. Not having
access to aluminum plates, I made the face panels out of 3/16" mahogany plywood. Each plate was custom cut to fit each
piece of radio equipment and then varnished a high gloss. The "ON AIR" sign lights up when ever the radio is in
transmit. There are casters on the bottom of the rack so when working on the equipment I only have to roll it out to access
of all wiring and cables. It also hides from view all the cables and wires that are required for connecting the radios together.
It sure makes it easy for operating my station and keeping an eye on all the meters while talking on the air.
