| Playing at the Lyon's Hut |
As a teenager in the 60's, it was "Pure Magic". There were so many areas to explore, dating, cars, hanging out
with the gang, pizza, parties and dancing. We loved our music and had our transistor radios playing all the time.
The best time I had was when I started a band that later became known as "THE BEACH BUMS". We were the typical
garage built band of the sixties. We played all the current hits of the time and on Saturday nights you would find us playing
to a large crowd at the Lyons Hut in Chesterton, Indiana. The band had two sets of brothers. Mike(rhythm) and Paul(base)
Hrapek, Bob(lead) and Don(vocal, keyboard) Samanas and Nick(drums) Griffin.

I haven't been in a band since the mid sixties, but I still enjoy playing that same music I played when I was a Beach Bum.
I miss those days and the energy I had to entertain the crowds that would come and dance to our music. My brother, Paul,
Who played the base guitar in the band, also keeps up with his music. We are both retired now. He lives in Florida and
I live in West Virginia. Maybe one day we will get together for old times sake and just jam as we did when we were kids.
Lets rock & roll!
