Texas has no state income tax, but a 6.25% state sales tax.
Gasoline: less, as low as 75 cents a gallon a few years back, below national average.
Property taxes: close to the same.
Grocery: close; fruits, veggies, beef: less; Anything that says "NY Style": more
Electricity: less, I pay about 7 cents a kilowatthour, cheaper in the cities.
Sales Taxes: close
Housing: generally more and getting more expensive here.
Home insurance: After the mold scare about the same.
Dining: generally less; classy places can be high.
Major entertainment: close; many can be cheap or free.
Vehicles: close to somewhat lower.
