Charleston, West Virginia Chapter #244: dedicated to improving the lives of Kanawha Valley mothers through support, education and advocacy Chapter Meeting Schedule Get together with other Mothers & More members for some great activities! We meet the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM. Playgroups are a wonderful way to help your kids learn to interact... and for you to meet other moms like you! You're sure to have fun (oh, yeah, the kids will, too).   Get involved in or launch a Special Interest group within our Mothers & More chapter. Book club, "seasoned" moms, arts and crafts, etc.-- whatever your interests, find someone with whom to share them. Community Service is one of our most important Committees. Other important aspects to our group are the advocacy causes that our membership decides to champion. Through our Business Awards Program, we recognize businesses with progressive programs that encourage mothers to fulfill their caregiving responsibilities without incurring social or economic penalties. In 2003, our chapter's nomination of Dow Chemical Company won the national Mothers & More prize as Top Employer for working mothers. We also participate in Women's Day at the Legislature sponsored by the West Virginia Women's Commission.

Mothers & More is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of mothers through support, education and advocacy. We address mothers' needs as individuals and members of society, and promote the value of all the work mothers do. Our mission is based on the following core beliefs:

• A mother is more than any single role she plays at any given point in her lifetime. She is entitled to fully explore and develop her identity as she chooses: as a woman, a citizen, a parent or an employee.
• All the work mothers do ­ whether paid or unpaid - has social and economic value.
• All women deserve recognition and support for their right to choose if and how to combine parenting and paid employment.
• All mothers, all children and all families are unique. We respect the wisdom of each mother to decide how to care for her children, her family and herself.
• Mothers have the right to fulfill their caregiving responsibilities without incurring social and economic penalties.
• The transitions women make into and through motherhood are challenging and can be difficult.
• Together, mothers are powerful.
