Officer Bonsell grew up in Blair County, where he still lives. He graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice in 2003. He then graduated from the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Academy at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2004.
Officer Bonsell began working for the Mount Union Borough Police Department in 2005 as a part-time officer. In May of 2007 he was promoted to a full-time position. Officer Bonsell recently earned his certification as an EMT in order to further assist residents in need of emergency medical care, and also enjoys enforcing the vehicle code in the Borough of Mount Union.
Officer Bonsell also assists the K-9 Unit as a decoy, and is a valuable asset in the training of our patrol dogs.
