Newsletter
Hello to one and all,
Congratulations to the winners of the elections in November 2008, John Muller is now the Membership
Secretary, Jan Nye and Alex Macfarlane were elected 1st and 2nd Trustees. All others seats remain the
same. If there are any members who wish to commit the time to volunteer as an Assistant Range Officer or Trap officer please
contact any board member and an appointment will be made.
NCCSC membership is up; Our current membership number is two hundred seventy(270) at the time
of this printing. Prior to the June meeting, there were twenty five pending NRA memberships, twenty members have not given
me their NRA number at all. Four members numbers were corrupted from the prior secretary’s spread sheet. Total number
of members on list, forty nine that will be delayed 2010 membership cards without an NRA number. This also includes a member
who paid for two years membership in advance however I do not have his NRA number. Membership cards are to be picked up at
the monthly meeting unless a self addressed stamped envelope is included.
I would like to thank Steve Miller and his Keebar printing staff for printing the brochures
and other NCCSC literature. There efforts have increase the quality and professionalism of the club. Brochures are now at
six locations and are moving at a regular pace, hence the steady increase in membership. Along with the brochures, the NCCSC
web site has been picked up by Google search engine for those folks looking for it on the web.
As membership increases, additional maintenance will be required; adding a requirement for one
hour of work for all members has been discussed, as has increasing dues or adding an application fee. At the present time
it was found not to be necessary and so was tabled. It is the belief of the members present at the May 2009 (7 or 8 present)
meeting that as the membership increases so will the number of regular volunteers. Currently five or six members are helping
out regularly at any given work day plus other members who help out before or after they shoot on any given day. Please take
some time out of your schedule to attend a work night or one NCCSC work days. It means a lot more when members have worked
keeping NCCSC maintained and not just enjoyed the work of others. There are garbage bags in the wooden box at the rifle range
and additional mail boxes will be added to both the pistol and trap ranges.
On the whole the club is looking good and is being maintained by the membership. However, there
have been a couple of occasions of a member using the back stops to place clay birds on; this is not proper, nor is leaning
items against the vertical post (rocks, steel plates, balloons etc.). Someone also left cinder blocks and tin cans behind
for others to clean up. Take your trash with you when you are done shooting. Remember fellow members, “leave no trace”
that you were present when you leave the club grounds.
The board would like to thank all those members who help keep the club clean and tidy by picking
up trash that is not their’s. We would also like to thank those members who keep the board informed of repairs or others
happenings that they have done or witnessed.
New water supply and electrical have been replaced as has the line to the 500 gallon steel septic
tank. This replacement also includes wash outs. The Club would like to thank NCCSC’s only Life member John Hanth for
his dedication to the club and for all his work. When large jobs need to be done John is there in a flash. It was John who
did the majority of the work with his equipment and knowledge necessary for replacement of said lines.
Kitchen renovations have begun with new insulation, studding and electrical of the kitchen and
alcove. Bathroom are now running/working after a reconnection of water supply.
Included with this newsletter is your 2010 dues notice. Include a self addressed envelope along
with your dues and signed form if you wish to receive your 2010 membership card via return mail. If you do not send a SASE,
stop in at a monthly meeting to pick up your card after your dues are paid; this saves quite a bit of money on postage. Remember
to spin the combination after you have opened the lock. The club does not want non-members to see the combination since that
defeats the purpose of having a lock. Election for officers are in November. If you or someone you know wishes to hold an
elected or appointed office, please step forward to be nominated or appointed. Nominations are made by any member in good
standing and are open to any member in good standing. Additional volunteers are needed to continue improvements around the
property.
Finely, to repeat myself, please take your trash with you and keep the ranges and club grounds
clean, leave no trace. This club is only as nice as the members keep it.
Sincerely,
John M. Muller

Hello to all,
A member was shooting at the range and was hit by a ricochet. He went to the hospital for stitches
on his forehead. Please do not use rocks as targets or to place targets upon them as this increases the possibility of ricochet.
Please no metal targets at 10 and 15 yards out of the possibility of ricochet. Please do not lean, staple or otherwise place
any targets or clay birds against the posts or backstops. Stumps or logs with groves cut in them have been placed along-side
the respective backstops for those members looking to shoot at clay birds or other targets in the upright position.
Range Rules are now posted at all ranges.
Elections are upon us. If you are interested in serving attend the November 3rd meeting.
Elections are held at the November meeting and the new board will take their office at the December meeting. Please attend
to vote and it’s also a good time for delinquent members to pay their yearly dues.
A wooden box, made by Jan Nye, has been placed at the rifle range. Inside, you will find sand
bags for supporting your rifle when zeroing. Garbage bags have been placed inside as well for member to use to remove their
garbage.
Twelve plus inches of insulation has been blown into the attic above the kitchen. Thanks go
to John Muller, Jan Nye, and new members Bob Evans and John Mcllvaine for attending and working to clean up the range and
repair the tractor.
Some of the members using the hand trap thrower have been leaving their spent shotgun shells
strewn about. Shotgun shells have also been left at the rifle range. Please pick up your discarded shells before you leave
the range not only for keeping the club tidy but for safety.
The threshold to the furnace room has been repaired to help stop water from entering the club
house. A trench was dug to lay pipe to help with this water diversion. However the septic line was dug up and needs to be
repaired. With any luck the line will be repaired and the bathroom up and running this month.
Our current membership number is about one hundred and thirty-nine (139). The books are still
indeterminate as to the actual number.
Trap is open each Thursday at 5pm and runs until 9pm weather and shooters permitting. Trap is
also open 1 hour prior to each meeting for members only. This is at a rate of $1.50 per round.
Please take some time out of your schedule to attend a work night or one NCCSC work days. It
means a lot more when you have worked for NCCSC and not just enjoyed the work of others. So, if you see canisters left behind
or targets still stapled up to back stops remove the trash and keep the club looking good. Bring spent wood from down range
and pile it up in the parking lot to be disposed of. We are still waiting for road millings for the upper parking lot(s) and
driveway down from them.
Also included in this newsletter is your final 2009 dues notice.
As always please take your trash with you and keep the ranges and club grounds clean. This club
is only as nice as the members keep it.
Sincerely,
John M. Muller

Newsletter
Hello to all,
In two thousand eight there have been several additional improvements to our club. Four additional benches
have been built and installed, two for each rifle range and pistol ranges.
Trees have been cut down along the right side of the rifle range. Trees have also been cut down around the
number two trap house. All these trees had grown into the shooting range over the years from the original boundaries.
March 29th work day: The club house roof was repaired around the chimney area for the flashing
had failed and water had leaked into the furnace room causing problems for years as one might expect. Thanks to Jan Nye, Ed
Vanderbush and John Muller for the repair. Water is still entering into the club house from the furnace room but no longer
via the roof. It may be due to the grade around the furnace room.
Steve buried a pipe under the driveway to direct the rainwater flow. Due to damage from a falling tree, MET
ED installed new electrical service and a new pole. Jan, Ed, John and Steve cut down and hauled trees and brush along the
power lines.
Please do not lean, staple or otherwise place any targets or clay birds against the posts for the backstops.
Shooting at the posts destroys them at a hastened pace and will be quite labor intensive to replace. Stumps or logs with groves
cut in them have been placed along side the respective backstops for those members looking to shoot at clay birds or other
targets in the upright position. Back stops have been installed at 15 and 10 yard intervals at the pistol range. Please no
metal targets at 10 yards out of the possibility of ricochet.
Permission was asked and given for permanent steal targets to be placed on the hanging portions of the pistol
ranges as well as the rifle range. To date, targets have been added just to the pistol range. Thanks go to Steve and his friends
for the added targets. They make a nice sounding ping when struck.
Do to complaints from the neighbors about explosions on Easter Sunday that were the result from what is believed
to be homemade bombs made by one of NCCSC’s members. A Range Rule that was passed years back but not published has now
been published. It is now, and was then, prohibited to ignite exploding targets. No primary or secondary caused explosions,
no shooting at expanding foam aerosol cans or paint cans. Violation of this rule puts any member at risk of revocation of
membership. Said member(s) were careless, reckless and inconsiderate of the neighbors and fellow members. Their actions could
have caused legal and financial problems for the club. The club believes the problem and the parties involved have resolved
this issue.
We have had some members use the trap range for self thrown clay trap shooting. These members have been leaving
their used shotgun shells strewn about. Some of these same shells have become projectiles when they have been mowed over.
Please pick up your discarded shells before you leave this range not only for keeping the club tidy but for safety.
Our current membership number is about one hundred and thirty two (132). This is down from the year end of
one hundred and fifty in December 2007. The books were indeterminate as to the actual number back in December 2007. There
were many holdovers that failed to renew in a timely fashion.
Cabinets have been acquired for the kitchen. With any luck some sort or renovation may begin in a few months
or so. Thanks go to Joyce Berman for the donation of the cabinets.
The trap house has been painted. Trap is open each Thursday at 5pm and runs until 9pm weather and shooters
permitting. Trap is also open 1 hour prior to each monthly meeting for members only. This is at a reduced rate and is an additional
amenity for the members. The mechanical hand thrower is ready to be mounted on the scorer’s bench. Please take care
when using it as it is a new amenity and the Club wants the thrower to last as long as possible. Again, Members please clean
up after yourself by removing spent shells and remember safety first around the trap thrower.
Please take some time out of your schedule to attend a work night or one NCCSC work days. Participation helps
the club be maintained as well as allowing members to meet one another and take ownership or pride in their club. It means
a lot more when you have worked for NCCSC and not just enjoyed the work of others. So, if you see canisters left behind or
targets still stapled up to back stops remove the trash and keep the club looking good. Members at any time can work around
the club, such as mowing, weed eating and picking up trash. Remember safety first- make all shooters aware of your location
when you are near the shooting areas.
We are still waiting for road millings for the upper parking lot and driveway down from them. We are looking
for more donated items such as wood and insulation for renovations of club house kitchen, replacement of car port and the
construction of a 16-20’ long wood barrier for the rifle range. The club is also looking for a large wood burning stove
to help offset the cost of heating fuel during the upcoming winter month’s meetings and indoor shoots.
Notice: The National Parks Service will be utilizing the pistol range several times throughout the year
for their firearms qualifications. The pistol range will be closed to all members during that time. This will normally occur
during weekday hours and should have little or no impact on the members. Times will be posted on the club’s website.
A sign will also be posted at the club.
Also included in this newsletter is your 2009 dues notice. As always please take your trash with you and
keep the ranges and club grounds clean. This club is only as nice as the members keep it.
Sincerely,
John M. Muller
NCCSC Trustee

Newsletter
Hello to all,
Well it’s time for another “Club” newsletter. First, our membership which was reported
in the last newsletter was incorrect. The membership number was one hundred and thirty three. The current number is 148 as
of the October meeting. There are several members who have not paid up for their 2008 dues. Please pay promptly or you will
lose access to the Club come the November meeting.
November is also elections for club officers and trustee’s. If you or anyone member you know is interested
in stepping up helping the club by holding an office, attend the meeting or contact one of the officers and let them know
of your interest in running for an office.
The Club is also going over proposed Constitution and By-law changes. Please come to the November meeting
to vote on the proposed changes.
Take note! If the range is posted that it is closed, that means it’s closed for everyone to shoot until
such time as an authorized person removes said sign. Not seeing anyone at the range or on the club grounds does not give you,
the member, the ok to open up and shoot. Postings must be followed for the safety of all members and non-members.
Back stops are up at the pistol range. They are at 25 and 50 yards. There is plywood for those folks wishing
to shoot at paper. There is also two locations to hang items to shoot at while they swing. Please pick up your targets and
trash and take them with you so as to keep the ranges clean.
On that note, the ranges have been kept much cleaner with every-ones help. The garbage can at the rifle range
was removed so now folks remove their trash. There are still some items left behind by shooters but on the whole the place
is looking much better.
The trap was doing markedly well until the machine needed repair. During late July and most of August trap
was down for repair. I eventually sent the control panel to the manufacturer for repair. We were up and running again by the
end of August.
Maintenance, volunteers have helped with the mowing, weed whacking, trap, clean up and the biggie, donations.
We have had several items like lumber and tools and time donated.
Members monthly work nights and weekend days have done pretty well. The club has been able to accomplish
quite a bit of long overdue maintenance to the grounds and club building. More members need to attend work nights to help
lighten the work load.
Additional amenities are on there way. The many positive comments have lead me to believe that additional
shooting benches are needed. There will also be posted a box at or near the main entrance. In this box will hold fliers for
such items as balloon shoots and membership applications. I will most likely mount this box on the NCCSC entrance sign, keep
an eye out for it.
The combination to the gate will be changed after the November meeting. All members who are paid up for 2008
will receive the new combination on there membership card. The change will keep out former members who have not kept current
with their dues. That, by the way, is a hint for not up to date members.
The P. O. Box and web site have become a success. New members are sending in applications to the P. O. Box
that they printed off of the NCCSC web site. Current members also are using the P. O. Box as a standard point of contact for
the club membership. This also shows that the web site is also doing well for an additional point of contact for the membership.
Tell a friend or neighbor; the new and improved NCCSC is a club to be a member of. Go to NCCSC web site to
keep abreast of the happenings at the club. I look forward to seeing you all at the range one day or another.
On a sad note, Jeff Chambers passed away unexpectedly on October 16th. He was an important member
of the club, providing many years of valued maintenance. He will be sorely missed!

June Newsletter 2007
Hello to all,
I thought it was time to write a newsletter to keep the club membership informed as to all the new amenities
and improving conditions at NCCSC. We now have many new faces as our membership continues to grow. We now are around 150 members
and still growing.
If you haven’t been to the club recently you’re missing several nice changes. New amenities have
been added. 1st, the bathrooms have been renovated and are now up and running. Yes folks, we have working indoor
plumbing, we have joined the 20th century; though this is only good for meeting nights and trap shoots currently
when the building is open. I figure we will join the 21st century if we ever get phones to the club house.
2nd, On the rifle range there are now 50, 100 and 150 yard back stops for those folks seeking
to staple a target up and zero their firearm. There are also areas to hang a target and let it swing as you shoot at it. The
range was also widened to close to its original width and quite a bit of clean up was done by members volunteering their time
to help improve the look and quality of our club.
3rd, The outdoor pistol range has had quite a bit of tree pruning and two benches installed. These
two sitting benches are for sitting pistol shooting or for those wishing to zero a new rifle at 25 or 50 yards. New back stops
will be added in short order on the pistol range.
4th, The trap is now up and running, every Thursday from 5pm - 9pm. Come out and enjoy a round
of trap and help support our club. A round costs $3.50 for 25 clay birds. No trap shooting skill is required.
5th, NCCSC now has a new web site. It is northernchestercountysportsmensclub.org if you
type it into the address bar of your browser you will zip right to it. Anyone having a problem might add the www. before it.
Currently Google has not picked up this web site to include in its index (so no luck googling it) so you need to type it in
and once found, bookmark the page. The most important pages are the calendar and the member’s page. The calendar for
obvious reasons as to what is scheduled and the members page as to what will be coming up in the next meeting or perhaps other
information such as work days/nights or events that may arise. This page will keep you up to date as to the happenings or
requests for help at the club. Refer to it often, for updates are regular.
6th, We now have a PO Box for members to mail in dues. It is Box 82, St. Peters, PA 19470-0082.
I know our club is in the Elverson zip code; however, St Peters post office was closer. If St. Peters turns out to be inconvenient
then we will switch to an Elverson PO Box.
7th, The kitchen has been gutted and is awaiting a design so a new kitchen may be installed. To
date, a stove, refrigerator, microwave and can crusher has been donated for the improvements.
8th, We will be adding a monthly work night to the calendar to keep up with the maintenance and
other cleanup of the clubhouse and grounds. Check the web site for postings. Work nights will be held on the
2nd Monday evening of each month. These work nights will consist of weed whacking, window replacements, mowing,
cleaning up of ranges or other repairs as needed. Participation is requested of you, the members, to help maintain the upkeep
of the club; for a couple of people should not have to do all the maintenance needed. I look forward to seeing you at a work
night from time to time.
9th, We are seeking a tractor for the club; this tractor must include a PTO and three point hitch,
for a brush hog and rake. A loading bucket would help as well. A donated working riding lawn mower and push mowers to keep
the grass in good order will also work. A tractor is preferred but we’ll take what we can get. Price is a big,
big concern so contact an/the club officer(s) if you find a tractor other than a free/ donated one.
10th, We are also seeking a donated color TV of good size, which means larger than a nineteen
inch, and condition to add to the kitchen. With the new flat screens out these days finding an older large color TV should
not be hard.
11th, To go with that TV we are seeking a porcupine antenna to improve its reception. These two
items are for the renovated kitchen and clubhouse; again to add amenities and value for our members. A place to visit for
awhile or just “hang out”.
12th, We will be reviewing and making revisions to the club’s Constitution and by-laws.
Come to a meeting and get involved in the improvements.
13th, Range Rules have been posted at the rifle range. Please keep the ranges clean and take your
trash with you. A clean range makes for a better view and is less work on the volunteers who help to keep the club looking
good. Additional volunteers doing a bit of work here and there are needed to help maintain the club. So this means you.
14th, Be aware that since the range rules are now adopted and posted at the range and on this
web site, every member is expected to keep the range clean by removing their trash and perhaps that of others. Failure to
remove your trash subjects those members to suspension or revocation of membership without the return of your dues. So, those
of you who shoot at propane tanks, aerosol cans, milk jugs, yogurt cups or other types of targets and continue to leave them;
clean up your mess, for you risk your membership at NCCSC. YES, THIS MEANS YOU!.
15h, NCCSC asks for your e-mail address to lower mailing expenses and improve communication
between the club and its members. Please e-mail your address to Gary Schade at gschade@ptdprolog.net or myself at mulj@verizon.net. Other changes will be left up to inclusions in monthly meetings for those members who attend. Future news letters will be
sent to those members who do not have an e-mail address. The changes will also be placed onto northernchestercountysportsmensclub.org
16th, NCCSC is also looking for some donated picnic tables if any members are so inclined to have,
or come across, one during your travels.
17th, Help the club and do your part by taking home a trash bag or two as you find them along
the side of the driveway or parking lots on the club grounds. Not all volunteers have trucks to take the bags home so if you
are driving by, with a truck, after a day of shooting, please pick up a bag or two for the curb at your home. In this way
you, the members, are helping keep the club looking good.
The improvements and amenities are truly adding to the possibilities of our club. Get involved, volunteer,
stop on by, see the changes and maybe shoot a round of trap, skill is not required. Involvement helps the atmosphere of the
club visually, socially and financially, which helps in ones experience as well as the expansion of the shooting sports. Tell
a friend or neighbor; bring one to see for themselves the new and improved NCCSC. I look forward to seeing you all at the
range one day or another.
