Dark solid Brazilian rosewood back and sides with tight straight grain. Spruce top. Part of the label was removed, when the center strip was replaced. The label is dated 1956, and if complete would read: Vda. y Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso, Construccion de Guitarras, Gravina 7 - Madrid, Ano 1956. There is also a brand stamp inside close to the heel: Vda. y Sobrinos de Esteso, Construccion de Guitarras, Gravina 7 - Madrid. The back has an earlier center seam repair and a repaired crack (14 cm). The top has some discolored circles underneath the lacquer. The neck is slightly bent and the frets are not great. Playable with medium high action (5 mm). Tuners work fine. Measurements:

| # 3162 | French Romantic Guitar | A good French romantic guitar from around 1820s, with part of a lable visible but unreadable. Wonderful birdseye maple back and sides, back has one repaired crack (24 cm), side has two repaired cracks (5 and 11 cm), spruce top with a repaired crack (9 cm), it looks like the ebony bridge was replaced, ebony fingerboard and neck, very nice purfling, good large headstock with original ivory and brass tuners by Parker, good frets, beautiful ivory bindings at the top and bottom sides, ivory saddle and nut, some nice mother of pearl inlays, neck is slightly bent, the action at the 12th fret is 6 mm, total length 94 cm, scale 64.5 cm, length of the back 44 cm, upper bout 24.6 cm, lower bout 30 cm, sides 8.2 cm, nut 4.6 cm. |   |

| # 29 | Spanish Romantic Guitar | Interesting Spanish romantic guitar, with the most amazing book matched and quarter sawn Brazilian rosewood back and sides, 6 cm hairline crack not open in the top half of back, 4 cm hairline crack not open in the bottom half of back, solid spruce top, very narrow grain in the middle, widening towards the sides, 2 not very professionally repaired (spliced) cracks from the sound hole to the bottom ca. 24 cm, extremely nice decorated rosette with a mother-of-pearl hunting scene, good straight mahogany neck, highly with mother-of-pearl decorated ebony fingerboard, mahogany head with Brazilian rosewood veneer in front and back, no machine heads, no bridge, there are 2 marks of two different bridges, 3 braces from side to side, one near soundhole, one underneath each bridge, 4 back braces, scale #1 64 cm, scale #2 70 cm, non original nut 4.8 cm, total length 97.6 cm, body length 48 cm, upper bout 23 cm, middle bout 20.1 cm, lower bout 30.8 cm, depth at neck 8 cm, at the end 8.7 cm. The body has the typical baroque shape from around 1750, but the Brazilian rosewood is quite thick which makes the instrument not as light-weight as they used to build guitars during the baroque period. |   |
