Mike's Hobby Page

Welcome to my hobby page. I currently live in the southern part of Maryland about 20 miles southeast of Washington D.C.  Due to the proximity of D.C., my night sky is not very good with a limiting magnitude between 4th and 5th. On the few "good" nights, the Milky Way is faintly visible.

I've been a practicing amateur astronomer since the late '60s and currently enjoy doing CCD imaging with a Meade 10" LX200 SCT and a variety of telescopes and Meade DSI Pro II camera.

I'm also an active amateur radio operator having been licensed for nearly 30 years now. I enjoy chasing DX and working QRP with CW being my primary mode of interest.

In addition to my personal part of the hobby, I also served for many years as the club president of our local astronomy club (Southern MD. Astronomical Society).
