News From Maria...Spring Edition-August 2007
Ah...Spring has arrived and it's fresh air and lots playground time!!  Although the academic year is slowly coming to a close, we still have a few more weeks of learning.  Some of us are still learning how to PLAY...you know it's not easy being a kid!!

Your classroom newsletters do keep you posted on our latest events, so do make sure you read them.

CONGRATULATIONS to all our families who participated in our PIZZA HUT BOOK IT PROGRAM.  Reading to our children at the end of the day is a great time to catch up, snuggle and relax with a good book.

Celebrating Parents & Grandparents Weeks... we enjoy seeing you, not just at drop-off or pick-up time!! Come share your talents with us!!

Referrals... word of mouth are our best means of advertising...thank you for your support and new families.  At this point we are appealing to you for our Kindergarten Program.  Due to ALL the changes in public schools, our K program has been hit hard.  We need another 6 children.  Every year we have a waiting list for this class.  So, if you know of anyone looking for a great program, do send them our way.

School Age Program... Attached is your reservation for our program.  Our summer program needs commitment and we have limited spaces for the academic year.  Should your child need care from 6/20-6/29 and 8/10-8/27 we have limited availability.  Those families who are presently part of this program have come first; all others will be based on availability.  Don't miss the deadline.

Improvements... the gate and fence, it was vandalized two years ago and just recently got hit by the plow and a parent backing out.  We are on the repair list with Miller Fence in Worcester.  We will be installing another small gate close to the emergency gate (large gate) to facilitate entry.   Hopefully we can utilize the lock mechanism by the adult so the child is not jumping or pulling on it.  The larger gates will be primarily for emergency vehicles.  The smaller gate opposite will need repair, since children jump on it to open it when they are with their parents.  The locking mechanisms are so the children CANNOT open the gate (Safety First)

Playground... at the end of the day, children and parents enjoy gathering in our playground.  This is GREAT...children play and exercise, parents chat and sometimes children get hurt!  As a friendly reminder, parents are responsible for their child when they are on the premises.  Our staff has a long day, and at the day's end we clean up the playground and close the sandbox sheds.  We ask that after you and your child enjoy the playground that it is left in a tidy fashion.   We shall be replenishing the shredded tire and sandbox, rebuilding the tents for shade within the month.

**Parking... the lower lot is a confined area, primarily for smaller vehicles.  The upper lot to left (where staff park) is closer to the door and much more accessible for exiting.  The staff will park further down to allow empty spaces for parents to drop-off and pick-up.  It has been brought to my attention recently that road rage is transferring in our parking lot.  Let's remember there are CHILDREN ALL AROUND US! The parking lot at Piccolo is NOT meant for any road or work related stress to be expressed.  God forbid a child becomes a casualty in our lot due to unnecessary rage!  Let's keep life in perspective, please!

Menu... is posted on our website > I try to nutritionally balance the lunch menu and its variety.  We offer fruit and veggies every day, many times at snack also.  A balanced diet should come from all sides, at home and Piccolo.  Help us crate a well balanced child.
