Barri was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan as one of five children. He attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, receiving a B.A. and M.S. in Criminal Justice. It was while attending MSU that Barri met and fell in love with his beautiful college sweetheart, Loraine. Both ended up becoming writers, sharing a passion for the written word as authors and readers; even collaborating on one book. Today they live in scenic Oregon, less than an hour away from the breathtaking coast and Pacific Ocean, where as a childless couple, Barri and his wife enjoy visiting family and friends, traveling around the world (especially Hawaii, where they've journeyed three times), photography, tennis, staying physically fit, art museums, all types of music, dancing, running on the beach, painting sea and landscapes, playing on the computer, and other simple pleasures of life.
