Carla Dietz Fortier began her writing career in the early '90's
with a home-based business in which she composed resumes for clients.
The next logical step was to write fiction that was actually supposed
to be fiction. Over the years seventy of her short stories were
selected to appear in literary magazines or small press publications.
One day a friend read one of these stories and asked the question:
What happens next?...and next?...and next?...until she not only
had a completed novel, but discovered the satisfaction in the challenge.
Carla's personal reading
favorites include mysteries by authors like Nevada Barr, J. A. Jance
and Tami Hoag. Although she lives in the Midwest, her heart belongs
in the Old West. A favorite escape is to travel beyond the Mississippi
and explore the remains of boom towns and mining camps from an era
long gone.
Secrets is her first
published novel, set in a fictional town on the outskirts of Portland.
Sister Peaks is a work in progress, with more to come.
