Wandering through the Latin
Quarter in Paris one foggy night did it for Steve Haberman. That
is, as he strolled, he wondered what would happen to a pensioner
with a too dangerous curiosity. The germ, in other words, for Murder
Without Pity, a noir mystery set in the City of Light.
Murder Without Pity
is the first in a series he plans to place entirely or partly in
France’s capital and is based on research done from numerous trips
there. Currently, he’s at work on his second mystery, set mainly
in that city as well as in London, Brussels, and Vienna, all of
which he’s visited.
Profitable stock market
investments let him early in his work life escape the rate race
and to travel extensively to Europe.
He earned a BA Degree in
political science from the University of Texas and paralegal certification
from UCLA. Some of his favorite writers include Brian Moore, John
Le Carre, Philip Kerr, and Alan Furst.
When not reading, writing,
or studying French and Italian, he’s busy planning his next foreign
trip. He divides his time between the Continent and San Diego, California.
