NARFE CHAPTER 190 MINUTES OF BOARD MEETING HELD JULY 29 FOR AUGUST 2009 President Tony Pizza called the meeting to order at 10 :40 a.m. Attendees: Tony, Carl & Dukie Bailey, Marilou Balangue, George Ramirez, Bob Willis and Mary Ellen De Luca.Minutes read and accepted as corrected. 2nd v.p. George Ramirez will send notices about our General Meetings to the Acorn and Pilot newspapers. Treasurer Carl Bailey reported checkbook balance is $3796.05 + $25.00 petty cash. Tony reported for 1st V.p. Juanita Davis who was absent. Our membership stands at 861. The letters about rejoining are working. George said that we should get after Senator Barbara Boxer to support the bills that NARFE is backing for us. He will write letters to Sen. Feinstein, Rep.Capps and Rep.Gallagly thanking them for their support. Service Officer Bob Willis had only one request for an F-I00 this month. Ways & Means Ch. Marilou Balangue said the she took 35# of food donations to Food Share this month. George said that our August speaker would be Holly Nash from United Blood Services Central Coast. Bill Fisher is a possible speaker for September speaking on Veteran benefits. Newsletter articles ASAP to Vic. Dukie will buy cupcakes from Sam's Club for Christmas luncheon. Passed. Carl said that the base passes for retired employees are now available. Tony said the National wants dues to be $40/year for all. $36 if you are on dues withholding. We will vote later.
