January 2009 Board Meeting - held December 19, 2008

President Tony Pizza called the meeting to order at 10:45 a.m. Attendees: Tony, George Ramirez, Carl Bailey, Marilou Balangue, Vic Johnson, Bob Willis and Mary Ellen De Luca.

Minutes of previous meeting read and corrected.

Treasurer Carl Bailey reported checkbook balance of $4450.38 + petty cash of $25.00.

1st v.p. Juanita Davis was absent. All agreed that she has done a very good job. The nametags are a big help in getting to know the members by name.  She has contacted those who have dropped to try to get them to reinstate.

2nd v.p. George Ramirez reminded us of the 5.8% annuity raise we will be receiving in the January 2009 check.  He also said we should phone or email Representatives and Senators if Congress introduces legislation contrary to our wants and needs.

We will attempt to recruit at the Health Fairs on the base. Tony talked to Norm McCracken who went to the meeting but arrived late. Tony spoke to a few attendees. We need support from current and newly retired employees about employee benefits after retirement.

Newsletter editor Vic Johnson will include a membership incentive for potential members offering them a free lunch at the January meeting.  Vic also said there is BC/BS info on the website. Articles to him by 12-31-08. Change of address calls to Carl.
