NARFE CHAPTER 190

MINUTES OF BOARD MEETING HELD ON

OCTOBER 2, 2008

Meeting called to order at 10:45 a.m. By President Tony Pizza. Attendees: Tony, Juanita Davis, George Ramirez, Bob Willis, Marilou Balangue and Carl & Dukie Bailey.

Secretary's minutes read and accepted.

Treasurer Carl Bailey reported checkbook balance is $4,330.55 and petty cash of $25.00.  The next trip will be

March 8-10, 2009.

1st V.p. Juanita Davis reported that membership stands at 844. She said that the September speaker, Gene West, was very interesting and all agreed.  She will send letters to drops asking them to reenlist and go on direct withholding.

2nd v.p. George Ramirez said that Rep Lois Capps has asked for NARFE-PAC funds from national and all approved the request. She is opening a new office in Oxnard.

Ways & Means Ch. Marilou Balangue said that See's Candy is opening a store by Marshall's for the holidays on November 10. She will put a blurb in the Newsletter about it.

Sgt. at Arms Juanita Davis has been reminding people to turn off their cell phones during the meetings and there are now very few interruptions. The nametags are being used and are appreciated by all.

2nd v.p. George Ramirez, Program Ch., said that the program for the October General Meeting would be Manny Maldonado from BC/BS. He will talk about the changes for 2009. November will be Norma Featherston from the Alzheimer's Assoc. December - Christmas party. January - Carol Leach motivational speaker.

Newsletter articles - dues, membership, See's, no outside beverages.

Old business: Carl reported on the Convention. 2010 will be in Grand Rapids and 2112 will be in Sparks.

New business: Elections are coming up in November so Tony will ask for nominations from the floor to replace some of the old Board. Most have served many years and would love a break.

Dukie Bailey will purchase a cake to be served at the December meeting.
