National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association

Ventura County Chapter 190

General Meeting, November 20, 2008

President Tony Pizza called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. Sgt.-at-Arms Juanita Davis gave the invocation and led the pledge to the flag.

A lovely turkey dinner was served.

Tony thanked all the Board members for all their work over the past year.

He then introduced Norma Featherston, Area President of the Alzheimer's Association, who gave a Power Point presentation on Dementia & Alzheimer's Disease. The local chapter provides services like advocacy, research and family services.  Alzheimer's affects 8,000 people in Ventura County. She had many handouts for us and encouraged all to call for help if there is a problem in the family. It was a very good program.

Tony then presented Norma with a check for $336. An additional check for $168 will be sent to NARFE National Headquarters.

Announcements:

Juanita has contacted many recent drops and encouraged them to rejoin and to use direct withdrawal.

Marilou has See's gift certificates for sale.

Fred Ervast told about the many types of trips for the Christmas season on the Fillmore & Western Railway.
