I decided to put together this page to collect my own thoughts on 2012 and my preparations therefore. While I don't entirely believe it will be the apocalypse, I think one should be prepared for the worst -if, indeed, one can prepare for the extiniction of most if not all, life on this planet. Personally, I anticipate some sort of global catastrophe. Something on the verge of an extinction level event, if not an ELE itself. I would imagine something on the scale of an asteroid impact. There will indeed be a large asteroid passing us around then, and the chance to strike, while small, does exist. I don't think Global Warming will be able to strike severely within the required timeframe, but would certainly compound any problems generated by a disaster or war. Speaking of war, I think it unlikely (especially a nuclear scenario) unless resources are already scarce due to some disaster, though I don't rule out the possibility of an extremist group obtaining a nuclear device in order to fulfill some kind of "end times" prophecy, and that sparking global thermonuclear war.
